Allah says هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا مِن قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ “He is the One Who sent the unlettered a messenger from among them to rehearse to them Our verses, to purify them, and to teach them the Book and wisdom, for they were prior in manifest error” (al-Jumuʿah 62:2).
May Allah bless and sanctify this Messenger ﷺ, who spent himself for our guidance, who spared us nothing of what we need to navigate the turbulence within and without. His every word was quotable! His every utterance was worthy of narration, memorization, and application!
ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar stopped penning those utterances that he intended to memorize from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after Quraysh had warned him, stating that the Prophet ﷺ would sometimes speak in times of anger like any other man. Upon hearing this, the Messenger ﷺ pointed to his mouth and said اكتب فوالذي نفسي بيده ما يخرج منه إلا حق “Write! for I swear by Him in Whose hand is my soul, nothing escapes it except the truth!”
This course will cover the most well-received compilation of forty hadith ever compiled, that of Imam al-Nawawī.
