Allah says وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا “And We vouched wisdom safe on him in his youth” (Maryam 19:12). Wisdom is the touchstone of faith, a beacon of light guiding souls through the darkness of the world. Our beloved Prophet once said الحكمة ضالة المؤمن أينما وجدها فهو أحق بها “Wisdom is the misplaced possession of the faithful: wheresoever he may find it, he is most entitled to it!” Wisdom is timeless, axiomatic, autonomous, and it assumes the throne of knowledge in every instance where things are placed where they rightfully belong.

The wisdom of Ibn ʿAṭāʾ Allāh shines with some of the most precious jewels of wisdom mined over centuries of thought to guide generations of seekers in a world where knowledge is branded by information and connectedness rewired by connectivity. Only the wisdom of the past can make us whole again, as in the words of Mark Twain, “The ancients have stolen all of our secrets.”
